Default Just got my Pearl :) Got a case q though

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone just gotta say this forum was the deciding factor on switching to a RIM device along with selecting the pearl I want to get a decent skin/case for the pearl that protectes the screen as well as the rest of it while leaving the keyboard exposed so after a little research on here i went to:

seidioonline.com

and like their cases but i cant really tell if the screen is protected on any of these.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Great combination!!!

I would tend to agree with Mckinney on the this one.

I've heard that the Crystal Case scratches kind of easy because it's a smooth hard surface. The rubberized case is more scratch resistant.

Good move, see my post on yesterday's drop on concrete. Seidio case took the impact and not a mark on it. So that case is tops.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...d-working.html

Also, I think the BSE skin used in conjunction with the Seidio case makes for a tight fit. See my post discussing that theory [in response to some complaints that the Seidio case fits loose].

Lastly, look up threads on how to install the case. There is a trick to it. Basically you have to hold the top of the halves tightly together and then snap the bottom right and left corners.

If you have to take it apart for a battery reset, for example, I found best spot to do that is:

Put right thumb on upper edge of case on opening on the left side, where the function button is.

Put left thumb on lower edge of case on opening left side of case where the USB port is located.

Then with gentle force, use your right thumb to lift the top half of case. Should split apart with ease.

Default "super Slim Crystal Case For 8100"

This is a neat case, but, with the small, tight keys on the Pearl, I found the bottom of the case, and even with the case's 1 mm thickness, intefered with the bottom row of keys. I prefer the skin, and I cut away the piece that goes across, because it interferes with the trackball. With that piece gone, it is super and does not get in the way.

Also tried the aluminum case, which is crap. The screen cutout is actually smaller than the screen, so cuts off bottom 1/4 " of screen.

At this rate, will pay more for cases than the $%&(_ phone!

What skin? Do you have a link?

I would say that just about every skin/case will work with BSE skin. It is very thin and like SF said, it actually makes the Seidio Rubberized case fit a lot more snug.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a follow-up Q (not having seen the rubberized cases in person): There are lots of recommendations for the Seidio cases. Are these much thinner (or otherwise better than) the ones from CC? Thx!

As I stated in my previous post, what case from CC? Do you have a link?

The skins from Chinesecatt are the OEM skins.

Oh, ok. Well the OEM skins are about the same as the Silicone Skins from Seidio, except the OEM skins cover the gold contacts on the back. This inhibits you from charging the 8100 in the desktop cradle with the skin on. The rubberized case from Seidio is hard unlike the OEM skin and the silicone Seidio skin. Also, the OEM and silicone skins attract way too much lint and dust.

Ah. Thanks again. Sorry for not seeing your original question about Chinesecatt's skins.

I just got my Pearl Friday, and ordered the Jet Black Skin case from Siedo (they were out of rubberized), and some Screenguardz.

I figured since its going to be in an out of my pocket all the time, this combo would work good, and hopefully the thickness of the case will keep from scratching the camera lense.

I might switch to the rubberized one later, but I think black will be ok.
