Default SMS showing as numbers rather than names

Ok I have a big problem that looks like its going to cause me to take my pearl back.

Unless I save a phone number saved as +447879680575 for example in the phonebook rather than 07879680575 (+44 is uk calling code) then the stupid phone shows the number rather than the name. Messages are received in the UK starting with +44 rather than 0.

So I went through all 150 numbers and changed them to +44 and it now shows names, yippee (or so I thought) BUT now when I receive a call from somebody in my phone book it wont display their name only the number because the number is sent starting with a 0.

SO what can I do?

Any other handset recognises both +44 or 0 as the same, but the Pearl is not. At present I'm at the point of returning the phone. Sigh

Click the green call button. Then menu/options/smart dialing. Make sure the country code is set to +44. This has been a widely discussed issue with UK users. Cheers!

Default solution

change teh international dialing prefix to match the prefix of your conutry so that b-berry can recognize the sms numberwith that prefix
