Default Message notification not working

I updated my Pearl's OS today, the new one from TMO. It failed the first time, had to wipe my Pearl using JL_Cmder, and then start from scratch.

Got my contacts and such back by syncing with Outlook, that's all good. Somehow, my email settings were still there (for a POP3 account, not Outlook) and it all appeared to work. But, I don't get any notification when I get a new email, have tried setting to various tones, vibrate, etc. and nothing works. This worked fine before, so not sure what the deal is.

The tone that I have specified for phone calls works fine. I've tried rebooting, had no effect.

Any thoughts? I'd prefer not to re-install the OS, not even sure how to do that without wiping it again and that was not too fun.

Also, just realized that email reconciliation isn't working, and isn't even showing up as an option in messages. Argh.

Are you sure that you checked the 'messages' setting under the profile that you are using?

menu/profile/advanced. Then select the profile that you are using and check the settings for 'messages [youremail@yourserver.com]'

Log in to your t-mo account on the web and then click on 'setup internet email'. Then select 'service books' from the left side and click 'send service books'.

Thanks for your help. I got it figured out late last night, I deleted my email account on the Pearl, and then re-created it, and everything is working fine. I think what happened is when I re-installed, it got some of the email account settings from the my-t-mobile site but not everything. So I still got emails, but in the profile options the account didn't show up, just a generic "Messages" item and that's what I was changing the tones, etc. for. Once I re-created the account on my Pearl, the email account showed up under my profile settings and it's all good!
