When you initiate a PTT call, the phone never lets go of the conversation, so the person you call can only hear you and they can never speak. We bought two Pearls and both did the same thing you describe. Sometimes one would hang and sometimes the other so I was thinking it is a network problem. The next day we tried it again and both have worked perfectly though there is some delay at "letting go" but only a second or two.
Cingular's PTT has a LONG way to go to be close to Nextel's but we had to leave them as more and more of our customers were off the beaten path when Nextel does not cover.
