Default Cingular PTT Problems

Please Login to Remove!

We are having a problem with our PTT from Cingy on our Pearls. We ordered them when they first came available on Premier last Friday. When you initiate a PTT call, the phone never lets go of the conversation, so the person you call can only hear you and they can never speak. Also, you can let go of the PTT button and the other person still hears you talking. This will go on as long as the call is going. I have called Cingular and they have no clue and said they haven't seen any issues with this from the Pearl. They called RIM and RIM said they also hadn't seen this. This is happening on ALL of the Pearls we have. Has anyone seen this and if so, how can we fix it?

We did a Wipe Handheld on ALL of the Pearls we bought and the problem went away.

We bought two Pearls and both did the same thing you describe. Sometimes one would hang and sometimes the other so I was thinking it is a network problem. The next day we tried it again and both have worked perfectly though there is some delay at "letting go" but only a second or two.

Cingular's PTT has a LONG way to go to be close to Nextel's but we had to leave them as more and more of our customers were off the beaten path when Nextel does not cover.

I had the same problem for the first few days. I tried to hard boot the phone with no luck, and cingular was no help either. I finally figured out that the left side button on the phone was set to bring up voice dialing when pressed. So when i would go to PTT and key up to start the conversation it would work and then stay on in the same manner you described. i went to my screen/keyboard pref's and changed that side button to default to PTT and haven't had a problem since. hope this helps you.

Drummer90 you are absolutely correct. I did the same thing and have had no further issues with the PTT feature.

Well we did change the left button to didicate it to PTT and STILL had the problem that day with the phone not wanting to stop transmitting. It is better now but sometimes a delay from pushing to letting go of the button. Maybe Nextel spoiled me!
