Default Email and home screen icons...

Please Login to Remove!

Just got my Pearl yesterday (came fom a Treo 650). I set up my email ect. I was expecting to go to one icon/menu that would list all email accounts, then you select the account for wish you wish to view/use. I am currently using 1 gmail and 1 adelphia account on the phone. When I go to my home screen, I click on an envelope icon (far left) that says messages to get my gmail messages/email and an envelope with a small globe on it (far right) to get my adelphia email message? Is that normal?

I'm new with the Pearl too. In addition to the separate icons for each account, I also have a Messages icon that seems to act as a consolidation of all my accounts / sms / etc.

Yeah, that seems kind of strange to me. My gmail falls under the message icon which consolidates as you said. My adelphia has it's own seperate icon.

The "Messages" folder should show you all e-mail. Each account you set up in the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) will also show you a seperate account/icon.

Most simply "hide" all the mail folders except the messages folder to keep the screen uncluttered.

That's pretty interesting! So if I set up the mail accounts through the phone/not the web then there will not be a seperate icon?

One tip to take advantage of the separate e-mail accounts folders:

The different accounts is handy when setting up notifiers.

For example, on my Yahoo account, I have the phone sent to blurt out that "Yah hoo hoo" sound you hear on their commercials. That way I know, without looking at the phone, that a less important e-mail has arrived.

And while I don't have an AOL account, I have an audible sound file that is that guy saying "You've got mail."

You can set up separate sounds in the <Advanced> menu of your "Profiles" section.

Let me know if you want some of my notifier sounds. I can post on my server.

What I do is move the "All Messages" icon on to my "DeskTop" and keep the others out of view.

Each mail account will generate it own email folder on your desktop no matter if you set it up via device or internet. It does not matter.

i dont' seem to have separate icons for each different email account. is there supposed to be a different icon next to each message in the messages list indicating from which email account it is from?

I'm on verizon and dont see where I can remove some of those icons. I have 10 email addresses and am fine with seeing everything under "messages" and dont need to see icons for each one. Where can I hide them?

Move the cursor on the icon you want to hide. Press the ALT button and click the wheel at the same time, click on hide. You can toggle the hidden icons back into view with show all clicked.
