The output is a bit smaller than the normal headphone jack. Does anyone know where I can purchase headphones/earphones or adapter for the Pearl?

Keep looking in the left hand column of this forum, where the sponsor links are. There are a bunch of different adapters, depending on what features you want. BBerry >> The One-Stop Shop for all your BlackBerryxxx8482; needs is one example.

Do a search in the Forums for headphones and earphones, lots of info on it.

Your problem is that the Pearl has a 2.5mm port while all the headphones out there are 3.5mm. If you want to use headphones or earphones that have a 3.5mm plug, you need to get a step-up adapter.

Seidio makes adapters. One with a microphone so you can talk on the phone, another with just a straight adapter without a microphone [costs about $10].

Also search in here for Jabra. They make a decent headset for the Pearl [it's generic, but it works on the Pearl]. You can get that at BestBuy if you are in a hurry. It has stereo buds and a microphone. Works well. Cost about $25 in stores, $15 on eBay. I think it's the c220s or something like that. Like I said, search "Jabra" in here and you will find it.

I went to a verizon store and picked up the adapter they sell ($15). It converts your standard headphones (3.5mm) to the Pearl's (2.5mm) and adds an inline mic and talk/end button. Works great and allows you to use high end headset and still make calls with the mic.

Can you let us know what is the make or model of the headset adapter that you bought?

i bought a plantronics one for $19.99 from office depot....or was it office max? i dunno

... Not the one I got from Radio Shack... nor the one I got from Fry's... both would only output the right chanel... couldn't get stereo. So I ended up buying a motorola stereo headset with mic for $10, and that works fine, although the earbud sound quality leaves a bit to be desired.

Anyone tried one of these adapters with success getting stereo out? I would still love to connect my pearl to my quality headphones, home stereo, fm transmitter, etc...

Many folks here have had problems with ones from Radio Shack (as have I) ... you only get sound on one side of your headphones.

The Seidio one (make sure it is the one specifically for the 8100/Pearl) works perfectly. Without the mike is $9.85 or so & with mic is ~$30.

A few months ago I warned people that the Radio Shack adapters would not work, despite the Radio Shack guy acting like a know it all and swearing the adapter would work. For me, it only worked monaural. Waste of money and effort it was.

Anyway, one Member said I was full of it and that the Radio Shack adapter worked fine for him. So I shut up and said "whatever."

I then went to Seidio and bought both versions of their adapters. And those work perfect.

I don't mess with RadioShack...had one bad experience there, and I don't even buy batteries from there anymore. I bought an adapter on eBay last week for like $3, still waiting for it....if it doesn't work, I'll get something from one of the sites on here...

Did I miss previous mention of this...Siedio (and I have no relationship with them at all) has two adapters. One (the one I have and that works perfectly) has a mic and a button to answer/end cals and pause/resume the audio player. The other adapter is just a simple Pearl to headphone adapter.
