For those that didn't get a Cingular Pearl (e.g. - T-Mobile, Vodafone, Rogers, et al), this is just the latest OS version available publically for download. If you have it loaded already on a Pearl from Cingular, this means nothing new to you.

It downgrades BlackBerry Maps to 1.0.61 from 1.0.67.

Hot damn. Glad to have all the themes now. And finally, a theme that separates Messages from SMS (Tmobile White Zen).

Thanks for updating it so fast, Jibi.

I don't understand the big deal with Auto-dim. Does everyone use their Pearl in the dark? Turn on some lights and the auto-dim will stay off.

Is there anyway to update the alx file on the handheld without reloading the os? I saw Jibi's note it downgrades the maps app and from what I can see no one knows if it downgrades anything else.

Thanks

Just try it out. If you don't like it, downgrade back to a previous version.

It doesn't downgrade anything else. The ALX we're referencing is the one for the released OS, so it'd be Cingular. It will coincide with the Cingular OS referenced in this thread, so you need to install it as well.

If you want to avoid the BlackBerry Maps downgrade, you can copy the LBS.alx file from 4.2.0.67 to this release, as well as the net_rim_bb_lbs_*.cod files from the Java directory. That will be all I'll say on the subject, though... if it seems too complicated, then don't worry about it.

There has to be a reason that it downgrades the maps. I would think it's a good thing.

Could one of you who has done the Cingular upgrade check if it (a) still fixes the caller lag issue (fixed by the .67 OS, so I don't want to reintroduce it!) and (b) more importantly, addresses the standby issue - ie when you put the phone into standby (rather than keylock) the phone sometimes freezes when it is woken up by a call so you can't answer/use menus etc.

Any other noticeable changes would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

I haven't experienced the call lag issue with Cingular's .69 OS. (For me it went away when I upgraded from the original T-Mobile OS to the Rogers Wireless .51 OS. When I used the o2 .64 OS and Telefonica Movile's .67 OS I never had the call lag issue).

Thanks Jibi, worked fine for me. In fact even added the PTT icon in my menu, being with T-Mo know I cannot use it, but still kind of cool to see it there.

Question Downgrade?! - 12-12-2006, 08:33 AM

Hi Guys -

When I installed the Cingy OS, and ran the App Loader from my desktop, the Loader reported that the Cingy was a downgrade from the Telefonica OS (which is supposedly a .67 release). Any thoughts on why it doesn't want to install the Cingy OS?

TIA,
Stac

Default Funky SMS text entry bug - .69 specific? - 12-12-2006, 08:49 AM

Set your font size up to say, BBClarity(9), and try and compose SMS. Your screen will look like this:

Has anyone seen this on other versions?

Disregard, I did a search and I found a thread that states you can use Javaloader to remove some of the media

When I use to update my 8700C I was able to delete the preloaded media that's usually locked (Images etc.). I updated the alx file and deleted the vendor file it there someting I'm missing.

Note: I did not update the Blackberry 4.2 System Software only the Blackberry 4.2 Core applications so I could unlock the themes.

Thanks

I just upgraded to Cingular OS, but how come I don't see the Cingular Themes? Also, I used to have the TelNav, but once I upgraded to .67 before, it was also gone. There is also no PTT icon on my screen either.

Did you delete the Vendor File? Rename the Blackberry.alx file as well as the Platform.alx file and replace them with the ones posted in the following thread? The instructions on how to do this are also listed in the below thread

PTT is locked to Cingular-branded devices (vendor ID 102). You can open the Platform.alx and remove the vendorID listing in there, or you can use my prepared Platform.alx in the zip file provided in the ALX thread.

Updated mine....no issues that I can see. 30 minutes...All went smooth. I can't see any differences yet from .67, though, except it says .69
