I have my Backlight Timeout set to 30 seconds at level 100. When reading a long email sometimes the backlight dims about 20-30% and then comes back up for no apparent reason. Is this by design or a bug?

Yes, it is by design. If you have the older version 4.2.0.42 from TMobile You can turn that auto-dim feature off. Any other versions you are stuck with it. Lots of posts about it all over this board. It's a hot topic with many.

Does anyone know if there are any software programs available for the pearl which will end this problem? I recently switched from the 8700 to the pearl and this is really my only complaint about the Pearl. Does anyone know if there is a fix in the works?
