Is there any way to get the address book to always load with the first entry selected. Whether I access it with the Address Book icon, or by holding down the call button, it opens up showing the last entry selected. It's kind of a p.i.a.
I'd like it to just start from the top when opened.

not that I am aware of. However, you have a couple of different viewpoints here.

1. You can set a speed dial for frequently dialed calls
2. You can set the call screen to show frequently dialed calls
3. You can type a little bit of the name and the address book will filter out all incorrect entries.

When you are in your address book you need to clear the field where you type to find someones name before you close out of it, then the next time you open up you address book it will be at the first contact.

It's not so much the search for name, it also sticks at the last entry you scroll to (without characters in the search). The only way I've found to work around this is to always remember to go back to the first contact, then when you open the addy book again, it will be there (still a p.i.a.). Do newer firmware updates correct this, or no?

My workaround from this is to press the letter 'a'.

Even if I ended up searching and dialing a person lets say Michael, the next time I start the address book, I just press 'a', it goes to the first top entry, then I press delete button and you can go from there.
