Not sure of the cheapest but the only one I've used is GSM PhoneSource - When Only The Best Will Do. Adam is a great guy and runs a great service.

For Tmobile customers (longer than 90 days), you can request Tmobile provide you with the unlock code for your phone. Best to tell them that you are travelling overseas and want to use a prepaid SIM.

Another vote for GSM Phone Source - I've done 2 phones from them. Great service at a good price.

I believe anyone in customer service would be able to do it. If not have them escalate it to the proper group.

At the prompt say "BlackBerry" and you will end up a the Blackberry guys. They have unlocked 2 BBs for me. It takes them about 24 hours to process the request.

i thought a law just passed that all providers have to unlock there phones so they can be used on another providers network. I just read this on BBhub.com and a few other sites. something to do with copy rights or something like that

Here is a link to a good article on the recent exception that was created to the DMCA concerning unlocking phones.

Carriers Split Over Cell-Phone Unlocking

Basically the carriers don't know how they will handle it. It seems that T-Mobile has the friendliest stance and Sprint, being the pricks they are, refuse to unlock phones saying that they are not doing it because it is best for the customer and their experience on their system. It sounds like Cingular is somewhere in between. I have been both a Sprint customer and now use T-Mobile. I have never had any issues with TMO but Sprint was a nightmare. Anyway have a read and formulate your own opinion.

All they asked me was why I was unlocking it and I told em I travel overseas. That was it.....they unlocked it for me.
