Default Location based services?

Please Login to Remove!

In the advanced options, there's a location based services section .. but it's blank inside. Does the Pearl offer any type of location based services?

You must get a Bluetooth GPS puck to use any GPS services.

I just ordered the Holux 240 from buygpsnow.com, after seeing it recommended here. But they should change the site name to "buygpslater.com" as they're on vacation until after the new year. I should read the fine print more often, heh

I like the GlobalSat BT-359 Bluetooth GPS Receiver. I got it from Cingular and the price was $99. You can call a Cingular Corp. stoer near you adn see if they have it in stock. The go as fast as they can get them or order it from them directly by clicking on the red name as it is the link to the item.

hah - I'll stop at a store. I'm an impulse junkie. If they have one, I'll just give the ordered one to somebody at work

(... and expense it, of course!)

The one from Cingular (telnav?) is amazing. Amazingly awesome, even. It was quite a fun trip back from the store. I love when I get a new gadget that gets my kids that psyched up - they were little bouncing tots on the way home.

I played with both the "official" telnav (30 day trial, $10/mo after) and the bbmaps application. Both are very nice.

I do wish Google Maps had GPS support. I've been using google local for so long, I'm just very used to it.

----------

I have no idea what the location based services thing is for, either. It's still empty for me, as well.

The "3d view" on the telnav was very nice. My kids approved, too

I have a 7250 and under LBS it has GPS Services which has 2 options. "Location On" and "911 Only". By default, mine is set to "911 Only".
I can only assume that it was changed in the 4.2 handheld OS. Or maybe it's just because I don't have an 8100 like you others.

Also I have no GPS thingy attached
