Post .midi Files Not Found

Please Login to Remove!

I've uploaded a whole folder of ringtones from my old RAZR phone. There's a bunch of .midi files and one .mp3 file. Only the mp3 file can be seen by the Pearl in the media ringtone folder. I can play them fine on the computer and I'm pretty sure they are polyphonic. According to the sticky, the Pearl should support .midi files.

How come I can't see them when browsing in the Pearl?

Attached is one as an example.

I can't figure this out. I've tried new midi files but no luck. There seems to be some sort of filter on this. Has anyone been able to play midi files on their Pearl?

well when you go to assigne the tone to a name it will not appear in the list. The ringtones need to be in the ringtone folder (on the phone or the card).

no you can click on it in the music folder and in the options is "set to ring tone" you can set any song in your music folder to your ring tone
you may not be able to set to one person but your ring tone in general. I found that having multi ring tones is a little to much for me i have enough things to remember in my life and thats what caller ID is for i believe

Correct but that is only as a default ring tone and you can not assigne it as a specific to a contact

I would like to assign multiple midi ringtones to mulitple people. Are you guys saying that it is impossible with the Pearl?

That is doable, you go to the contact and selct edit then you hit menue and select assigne t tone and you can set for each one you want. The one thing is if you have the tones in anything but the ring folders they will not show. If you have one under music folder you can not assigne it to a specific contact but you can assigne it as a default phone tune (which is the default main tune for the main profiles).

When I go into a contact and select edit, the midi files do not appear.

I added these midi files to my music folder but, again, they do not appear there either.

My conclusion here is that the Pearl does NOT support midi files despite what the Sticky Post and BlackBerry's site says.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! (Warning: This is really stupid)

Simply rename your .midi files to .mid and then they will appear in your Ringtone folder. UGH!!! How annoying?

Someone should update the Sticky Post.
