I'm very interested in getting a pearl, I use internet a lot and also instant messenging a lot, but apparently it would be 20 dollars for adding data and 20 dollars for instant messenging because it uses text or something. Is there anyway to not pay an extra 40 dollars just so I can use AIM? I won't really be texting people and if I do I don't care for those few cent charges but I do use AIM a lot. Is there any software that uses the internet for AIM instead of SMS? Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, this will be my first BB and I really want the pearl, except I really do want to use AIM. I'll be with a family plan by the way so I'm not sure if recommending another single user plan would be helpful. Thanks a lot

I'm very interested in the Ramble since it's free, I check out the IM+ and it looks very nice also. Is the IM+ one of the annual fees or just the pay once to get software to install? So using either Ramble or IM+ I wouldn't need to get the SMS plan and it is just the data plan? Also I'm planning to use T-Mobile with 3 other people, they wouldn't have a BB and we wouldn't use anymore than 700 or 1000 minutes, we value our nights and weekends so which plan would you recommend. The ones on the T-Mobile page is sort of vague as to unlimited data or not cause it just says "you can add other BB services." Which would be the plan I'm looking for, basically being Unlimted Data, 700 pooled minutes + Nights and weekends, Family plan. I can't post the link to the T-mobile site because I don't have 10+ post yet so sorry that I can't provide it.

I would like to thank everyone reading and helping me, I always hear great things about blackberries and I finally decided to try and own one, and since I saw the pearl, it made me want it even more. I am assuming that you have teh BIS plan which is unlimited. in this case, with IM+ you would get the BIS version adn it would be a one time fee and it works great Since BIS plan gives unlimited data and IM+ uses data, you will not get charged for IMs or SMS. I have been using it for 9 months now and I love it and it never failed me. Also if any one else you knwo that has a BB, you can use the blackberry messenger to IM each other and that one is for free and has no costs.

Oh no, I'm not subscribed yet and planning to go the day after christmas, I'm doing as much research as I can. I actually need help with getting the right plan. My previous post before the bump was specifying what I would use it for. Which would most likely be a family plan, we use no more than 700 whenever minutes, and we need nights+weekends. 4 people will be using this family plan and if I'm correct, I should just stick with the unlimited Data plan since I can use Ramble or IM+ sending instant messages through Data and not SMS. Can someone give me a direct link cause when I go to the T-mo page it is very vauge in the family plan + bb data section.

A question for Ramble users, how do you like it, do you use AIM and is it really reliable? I saw that IM+ is 50 bucks and I'm trying to avoid that ><

You should just call Tmobile and ask them. They know more about their plans than most of us.


This is the best plan for an individual if you ask me 1000 mins, unlimited email, data and txt. I have it.

This might be best for familys but you also need to add the Unlimited BB service for an additional $20. It includes NO txt or pics and thats another $15 a month or you need to be real careful. I would probably add it if I were you as your going to want to send pics.
