I edited a MP3 to like 15 seconds and put it on my pearl.

I then set it to be the ringer for SMS messages.

When I receive a message, it plays the whole sound file, and I can't make it stop, until it finishes.

Is there anyway I can make it interrupt the file?

As far as I know, there's no way to stop the file from playing when you access the handset...just gotta wait it out I guess

Yeah that happens when I had the Razr as well, I would just edit the file..
