If you're on the cheap then you bought the wrong device. No BlackBerry Data Plan = no data, period and no there's no work around. BlackBerry's communicate through RIM's secure servers hence the requirement for a BlackBerry Data Plan. Without said BlackBerry Data Plan all you have is a cool phone with voice and SMS.

Yup BB plans are totally worth it. On t-mo they have a 19.99 BB plan with unlimited data and you get an e-mail addy.

Cheers

This phone is not what you are looking for. I will say look elsewhere.

In fact, there's no phone out there that will give you free Internet.

I don't know if it's "worth it." Rogers Wireless' plans are a bit expensive. If it wasn't for the promotion they had when I bought my Pearl, I probably wouldn't even be using a Pearl, let alone writing this. My plan right now is $60 data plan + $20 voice plan. But, since I'm within the promotion, the data is half off and unlimited data/phone usage for 3 months.

you'd still have the calendar/PDA function, which is a big one.

I personally dont use the internet option with this phone. I use my blackberry for the outlook feature, contacts and the calander. It has helped improve my life, im not kidding. I think having an MP3 player has improved my life too. HAHA!

That's the only thing that would make this perfect device: having WiFi built in.. perhaps the next model will?!!
