Default BES and BIS on same device?

Please Login to Remove!

I know, probably impossible, but I have my Pearl hooked up to the company BES, and am regretting total lack of access to 3rd-party appps, etc. ANy way around this? Can you have a 2nd data plan and 2 sets of service books? (Kinda like partitions on a hard drive?)

Not optimistic, but hoping...

it depends on the BES.....some disable the function for BIS...some don't....best way to know is to consult the admin. of the BES.....they know what is disabled and what isn't. and w/ the BIS it would have its own set of Service books.....as long as it isn't disabled the two usually co-exist fine.

I have BES and BIS. It just depends on your company's policy. Best thing to do is talk to the admins.

I have both BIS and BES on my 8100 with no major issues.
I do have a phantom email address(BIS account) showing up in the "from" address on my 8100. I was testing my wife's ability to get email on BIS and had her work email listed in BIS, I deleted that email account 3 months ago, but yet it shows up in "from" field as a option. I just got my 8100 a week ago.

hmmm... surprisingly, it may be an option then! I will check with our IT dept. (I'll ask for permission to dl apps first as it can't hurt; pretty much everyone has a company-issued BB, but I bought my own Pearl with phone service and had it hooked up to the BES, so maybe they will consider allowing either dl's or a BIS connection.)

Thanks again; always great info here!

I didnt even ask my IT dept, I just tried it and it worked....but good to ask them.

One thing you should be aware of is all your messages from both accounts get dumped into one message folder, which can be an issue for some.

Actualy, I'd like to know if connecting thru a BIS also would let me dl apps, IM, etc., even if the BES policy doesn't allow 3rd-party dl's.

No, the BES policy still controls the BB. No way around it. Talk to your admin. Maybe they can help you out.

Maybe I should ask this in the BES corner, but I try here anyway as it seems to fit the thread. Where in BES (4.0) is that option to en/disable BIS on the handhelds? Any hint would be appreciated.
