Default Sleep Mode

I stopped by a T-Mobile store to inquire about a case for my new Pearl. Although I didn't buy, the rep. suggested their case because he said that when you put the Pearl into their case it goes into Sleep Mode. What was he talking about and how is that done?

BlackBerries go to "sleep" because of the magnet embedded in the case. I personally dislike the TMO case for the Pearl because you have to put the phone in backwards. I've been using my 7100t case (a little modified), but lately I've been carrying my phone in my pocket in sleep mode.

I have a case on order from Sena, but they will not begin shipping until 1/5/07. Are you aware if they have the magnet to put the Pearl into Sleep Mode?

Most Blackberry cases have magnets that turn off the screen and put them in a power conserving mode. The Tmo case does this also and is a pretty good case ( I have one of these and the RIM case). Some say you have to put the phone in backwards, but that it is not required on my Tmo case. Case discussions usually provoke lots of opinions, so you'l likely hear more on this.
