OK, heres my setup...

blackberry pearl with no internet or email service...
I was told that by paying for tzones service I can access my email from yahoo....
also, i have upgraded my yahoo account to have a pop3 setup...fowarding.

Right now I get my yahoo emails fowarded to my "messages" on my phone, but with a 10 minute delay and then when I reply, It fails with a 700-Protocol error...

So you just have t-zone or do you have a data plan. I think you might need the data plan. It is 19.99 for unlimited

i had that, but it wasnt worth the price for a little as I'll use it...but I was told by the tmobile rep that I would just need a tzone deal for 5.99 extra a month...

i dont think that is right.. I could be wrong since I never use tzones but the 19 buck a month data plan will get you everything you need via BIS

hmm that is interesting I don't know. I thought you needed the data plan to be able to send and receive messages through your blackberry. Unless you are using the t-zone browser to send the message and receive message.

well now im getting that protocol error on just sending a text message....odd

Why buy an expensive phone and not get the service along with it...just doesnt make sense to me... its like buying a brand new benz and not getting navigation..some people do silly things

try a reboot and if same error with txt call tmobile to see if their is an outage or something

it was a free phone for any phone I got.... might as well get the benz instead of the dodge (as I might want to upgrade service later...) I just cant see spending 65+ a month for a cell phone bill....

ohh I understand I mean i always paid alot fo my cell phone bill but that is because i am mostly on it and use it so for me it is worth the money. So did you try to reboot and see if the error message came up.

The T-mo rep is wrong. You MUST have a BlackBerry data plan in order to access/send email from the BB. The reason is, the BB does not use the T-mo network like other T-mo phones. It actually creates a connection (kind of like VPN, if you're familiar with that) through T-mo's network to RIM. Therefore you must have a BB data plan to access this network.

think of it this way:

all phones need a gateway to the internet. Regular Tmo cell phones use a particular gateway.

Blackberrys aren't made to work w/ that gateway so they have their own gateway to the internet....and that is why you need a data plan. the data plan provides that gateway...and its the only way to get the gateway.

I don't use Tmo service myself, but I have to use this often for cingular BB users....i do data support for Cingular.

Tmo told me the same thing. They are full of sh*t

Blackberry= have to have a blackberry.. otherwise you have a shiney text and phone device...
