Default turn off blackberry email service

Please Login to Remove!

Hi boys
I'm looking for my first Blackberry device (I'm intersted on 8100) and I have a question for the forum experts.
There is a way for to turn off the Blackberry email service (on a Blackberry device) but leave turn on the phone when I go outside my country ?
I don't want subscribe international service plan because I go out from Italy only in my vacations , one times in the year (the Vodafone international plan is only year subsciption).
Thank you in advance

Log into the BIS system or whatever you have and ask it not to send to device. BIS is blackberry intenet service, mobileemail.vodafone.it for you I think

Yes, go to Options > Network and change Data Services to Off. This will stop the device from attempting to establish a data connection. This will not only stop all email, but you will not be able to access the internet either.

You could also set it to off while roaming in the same place so you don't have to remember to do it and get hit when you land anywhere. Nice touch....

It is a nice touch! I call it my "vacation mode!"

Note this feature does not come on all OS versions.

It's on .69 as well. I skipped all the other version so can't offer any insight on them. I do know that Stinsonddog is right, though, with regard to that feature in other 4.1 versions for sure. It's hit and miss with no rhyme or reason that I could ever figure out. The only reason I could come up with is that some carriers don't want us to turn it off as it's a source of revenue!!

Personally, I love the feature.

Might be on all the Pearl versions, but I have had it on and off my various 8700 OS's. Not on the latest Cingular version.
