| Screen Protector for the Pearl Please Login to Remove! What is anyone's feeling about using screen protectors for the Pearl. I used Boxwave brand for my Dell Axim and my Vaja IPOD case has one built in. I ordered some from Boxwave, but they are a bear to install without getting a thousand bubbles under the skin. I'd like to hear if people use them, and if so, what brand. Thanks for the input to a newbie. | | Offline

Thanks for the input to a newbie. | Now you Mr. Newbie have not done a search in the Forum. Shame on you.
The general consensus is that for the price and protection, one should get a full skin for the Pearl. There are two competing brands, Best Skins Ever [BSE] or ShieldZone.
I won't go into price, where to get them, and how to install them since BBF has hundreds of post discussing all this. Simply type "BSE" in the search box and all the threads will magically appear.

Now with the Pearl all I do with the X50V is keep it charged.
Will be interesting to see if your Axim goes the same way. | | Offline

| I use Screen Patronus (screenpatronus.com) and have been very happy with them. I have them protecting my TOMTOM 910, 8700f and my Pearl. At the end of the day use whatever works for you.

| I use a ScreenPatronus and am not very happy with it. It does nt adhere well on the top and bottom edged of the Pearl. I would check out one of the other brands. | | Offline

| as the lone holdout (never used/touched a BSE) I love the screen protector from seidio. doesn't cover the whole phone but it is sturdy, clear and very easy to apply. I got the three pack thinking it was more like the screenguardz - soft filmy things that were plagued with bubbles, weren't very clear and worked their way off eventually. the seidio is a very clear, thin sheet of lexan. rock solid. love it. I've got pics around here somewhere. look at: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...tml#post363325

| Look at the threads that discuss the BSE Best Skins Ever skin and ShieldZone.
But to repeat since this thread might be the only one members look at:
1. The advantage of a full skin is that it will protect the entire phone, not just the display.
2. The Pearl is slippery. With a full skin, the slip-out-of-your-hand factor is eliminated [note I said "slip" not fall].
3. The full body skin eliminates seeing smudges and finger prints that accumulate on the Pearl's surfaces. Until I applied the BSE skin, I was wiping down my Pearl every few hours with Windex.
4. Applied correctly the BSE skin does not diminish the clarity of the display area. See below.
Bonus Tip: The Seidio rubberized case, which I prefer over similar lesser quality cases for sale on eBay for $12, fits better with the full body skin.
Sidenote: I do wish the Seidio rubberized case was $20 or less rather than the $30 it currently costs.

| I got Seidio's screen protector (sweet, you don't know it's there, no scratches in 2 months) and their rubberized case, which I really like. SF's photo of this case is excellent btw, much better than the shots on the site. You can see it's hard plastic with a very light textured covering, not what I'd call "rubbery" at all, not as sticky.

| Now that I have started this thread, I thought I would come back with a thought or maybe, a question. I ordered the BestSkin and it is on its way. What freaks me out is the fact that you apply wet. Now, I know that the instrctions urge you to take out your battery and sim card, but even with that, I am more than a bit nervous working with soapy water around anything electrical/mechanical. I initially used the Boxwave skin for the Pearl, which product had worked great with my Dell Axim, but I was very unhappy with the way it applied to the Pearl. A lot of bubbles which I couldn't seem to work out. Right now, the Pearl is without anything on it awaiting the BS. So any hints, clues or suggestions so that I don't really screw up things? | | Offline
