Im on Verizon - been very happy with coverage - never dropped a call and always get good signal - But i hate their phones - i want a pearl very badly
thinking about just paying the $350 (2 lines) and going to Tmobile (tried cingular before and it was awful)
questions
1. want to use for personal and work email and be able to synch outlook at work - do i need the $19.99 or $29.99 plan add on?
2. when send emails form pearl - can i designate where im sending them from? dont want to send emails to friends from company email (dont want things showing up on work server either)
3. im a little worried that as soon as i leave Verizon they will get the pearl (then i wasted $350 and probably wont get as good service)
Anyone know if Verizon will get the Pearl?
4. i can ordder from amazon and get the pearl for $50 but wont have anyone to help me set it up - is it pretty easy to get everyting working?
If you are going to get BES (29.99) you should find out with your company if they have that service available.
Yes you can determine which email address you are sending the email too on the pearl.
I do not know if Verizon will get the pearl.
and the pearl is very easy to setup and if you go with tmobile they will be happy to help you if you have any problems. My friend brought his phone from amazon and it was very easy to setup.

In closing, it's a TERRIBLE idea to switch services for a hot new phone. Terrible terrible terrible.
Don't let the sexiness of some new product taint your view of what's really important - service that works. A new phone with service that doesn't work in the places you need it to does you little good. And changing service just for a phone is a rookie move.
I STRONGLY advise you to avoid this change unless you're CERTAIN T-mobile will give you everything you need (which it sounds, based on #3, that you don't have confidence in).

If your company will allow you to install the Desktop Manager on your PC, then the $19.99 plan should work. If you want to use Redirector, or BES then you'll need the $29.99 plan.

so that means you will need BES and like Pizzle said don't change companies just because of a phone. Like I changed from Sprint to Tmobile because I was tired of CDMA and it was to much to have a blackberry on Sprint.

The envy with verizon is a cool phone it has lots of options plus a full qwerty keyboard. If you have great service with Verizion I am with the others dont switch just for the device

If I have GPRS in caps my data works fine. I had VZN for years and made the switch to tmob 2 months ago, got the phone free on Amazon. My data is $20/month, for Verizon it was $40.

i had both verizon (personal) and tmobile (work blackberry). I found that i had better coverage with tmobile and i am in nyc area....
I also prefer gsm over crappy cdma....
I only signed a one year contract with tmobile when i switched but they still gave me a great deal... can't beat it... basically every year i will get a new phone at introductory price with a new contract....
i can now flip flop to cinglar and tmobile back and forth on one year contracts....
there are usually one year versions, just not highly advertised and, of course, with higher upfront cost. I think T-Mo had a one year deal that was $50 or so more than the two year.
I recently switched from CellularOne to Cingular in order to satisfy my crackberry cravings. I had a 7290 when CellularOne used to be AT&T...then the big corporate selloff and dealings between AT&T and Cingular happened. CellularOne ended up with our area...and within 2 months ditched the Blackberry line. Boy, was I an unhappy camper! CellOne gave me a Razr and basically said, "Sorry, but you can buy one of the Treos when they become available."
So...I still had 6 months left on my contract...so I suffered through crackberry withdrawals until two weeks ago. I switched my service...and number to Cingular and got the Pearl. Now I am trying to get everything set up like I want it.
So far, so good!

Check things out before committing to your company's BES. I believe you can have a work e-mail address pushed to your BB as one of the 10 accounts you can add for a BIS service. OTOH, a company BES can impose many restrictions (such as being blocked from loading *any* new applications onto your Pearl!).
In either case, you can always synch to Outlook by connecting your phone to your pc and using Desktop Manager.
