I've seen this as well. It seems to work much better if you say the entire first and last name. When I would just say the first or just the last name, it never came close to selecting the right person. Also, saying the name phonetically helps too.

change your language from english to english gb... and then hit save.. and go back and revert it back...

it will then rescan your address book and it will work fine.

Try saying the last name, first name. For some reason I had this happen to me on a prior version of the OS.

I can't exactly where but I remember there is an option that puts the last name first and the first name last, or vice-versa... I think I even remembered that there was a first name only? Anyone know what I'm talking about or am I dreaming thoughts about my Pearl again?

For us Brits I assume this works if we change the language to American and then revert back to English?

I gave up on this feature. It almost never works correctly and becomes a pain to fight with it all the time.

Figures there is no way to train it like every other phone offers.

And what if I have non-English/non-Western names? They may not be very phonetically accurate either. What then?

There is one more thing that is supposed to help the recognition.

You'll need to be in a quite place while you do this. Go to >Options >Voice Dialing >Click the menu key and select Adapt Digits. It helped on mine.

Sorry to hear this - you should retry the suggestions listed in this thread - mine wasn't working at ALL until I got it to rescan the contacts, as outlined in this thread (changing the language and then changing it back). It now works very well.
