Default Key/Dial Tone? How to mute? - 01-19-2007, 11:19 AM

Not exactly sure what it's called, but when you press the keypad to dial, the "beep" everytime you hit a key, is driving me crazy. Is there a way to turn that off?

I'm not talking about the key tone in the settings that turns off the beep while navigating through the phone, but when you're actually trying to place a call.

Minor thing, but for the life of me, I cannot find the option to turn it off.

Thanks.

That does not disable the DTMF tones when dialing.

So there is absolutely no way to dial without making noise? What about environments where you are not to make noise? I know you'd also be calling and talking, but still. This should be an option.

Does anyone know if that TIM ITALY release gives an option for this keypad mute?

I have dowoaded the TIM Itay... but, I muted the keypad (while dialing) before I downloaded it...

I dial with no sound and rol the pearl w/ no sound. Both under Screen/ Keyboard... I know someone said that it doesn't work, but it did for mine.

Has there been any resolution to this yet? I'm quite disappointed with the loud sound a keypress makes when dialing a number.

When calling from the address book on my 8130, it does not make any sounds (except for the ringing of course), and that is in "Phone Only" mode.

It only makes the beep beep beep sound when dialing a speed dial number (i.e. speed dials assigned to certain keys.) I actually like that sound and wish you can have it make that noise for every call.

Default Try via notes (Notizen) - 12-22-2007, 05:27 PM

For a silent dialing try to enter the number as a "note" and dial it from there. Should work silently. And please let me know if that’s a solution: fritzATjoern.de

Yes, that has always worked, or enter the # in an email.

I think I found a way to fix this.

If you set the phone on quiet or vibrate mode you will not hear the tone when dialing. You can then change the settings of the of the quiet mode to however you want them. I just changed all the quiet settings to the loud settings so it is the loud setting without the annoying tone.

Hope that helps.

What device do you have? Your profile says 8300/Verizon but that's not possible. My 8320 with OS 4.2.2 still makes the dial/key tones when in Quiet profile.

So, that must have been added in OS 4.3.

I have mine set to off in Options and all the keytones sound on the main screen, and on the dialing screen the first few tones sound.
