I have a 1Gb media card in my 8100 but when I open the Blackberry supplied Desktop Manager software (Media Manager section) it only sees the device memory in /MyBlackberry and not the media card.

Any advice on how I can get the Desktop Manager to see the media card or do I have to take it out and put it in a card reader to do this?

Its a Sandisk media card.

Desktop Manager's Media Manager only sees the BB itself.

If you turn on "Mass Storage Mode" on the BB, then Windows will see the card as a removeable hard drive and you can move files directly to it.

Go into Options / Advanced Options / Media card and change the Mass Storage Mode.
