Thumbs up Review of Seidio Extended Battery - Recommend

Please Login to Remove!

I got my Seidio extended battery in the mail today. Bottom line, it's a bargain that should be snapped up. It makes OEM a swear word.

I'll let the pics do the talking, but briefly:

A. The cover is AMAZING. It will motivate you to shred your Pearl cover into slivers for use as toothpicks. I say this because 1) the cover is thick and has a nice texture. It makes the Pearl feel more solid as it adds heft to it; 2) the cover's extended area provides a place to grip the phone. It feels better and more secure when holding the Pearl; 3) as mentioned by Seidio, the cover has a better locking mechanism than the stock cover; and 4) the speaker grill works great. Sound booms from the cover now.

B. The lithium cells are made in Japan. Better cells come from Japan.

C. The added weight, the cover's texture, and the change in the cover's shape makes the Pearl feel like a different phone, for the better. It's weird how something so simple can make the Pearl a completely different phone.

D. All my cases, except one, have been rendered obsolete because the phone is too thick. No big, I will get some others and modify some of my existing plastic cases.

E. I played a two hour movie and the battery showed little power drain. I will do a test later, that is, not charging the phone and seeing how long it lasts.

I am so pleased with the feel and performance of the extended battery that I will probably toss my standard batteries into a drawer.

Making me want to get the battery already, a bit pricey for my end though =\.

OMG you work for Seidio because you got the product before I did

Anyways, Excellent review as always, lots of pictures that are very clear. So with the extended battery, the Pearl doesn't even weigh 1oz more and that's impressive.

Does the battery cover seem to scratch easily like the OEM?

No, the cover is fairly dense plastic, meaning not as soft as the OEM cover. It is also less glossy, so fingerprints will not show up.

Even so, I cut some BSE skin material and applied it to all the surfaces, not to protect the cover, more to enhance the grip.

You mean the holster? I put it in my holster that is designed for the rubberized case.

While it would stay in the holster, it was loose enough that I did not like it. It was so bad I can't bring myself to take a pic and to post it.

So I give a thumbs down to using the Seidio Rubberized Case Holster with this extended battery and cover.

I have a que for the people who are buying the extended battery, what r you guys doing with the accesories that wont fit your Pearl anymore. I am a college student and am looking for some deals. If you are just going to stash away your regualr cases forever, i might be albe to take them off of your hands.

Sry for going off topic but this was the best way i could think of to attract attention to this without making a whole new thread

Quick question, I thought that the battery cover had the Seidio logo on it. Did you remove it or does it not come with the logo.

Wow, that's heinous. I'll hold out for the OEM sized extended battery.

Thanks for the great review and pics...... however for me the pearl is too beautiful to disfigure with such a large battery. Wish it was smaller - although it appears on initial accounts that seidio have certainly extended the battery life considerably

+ Speaker holes! Good grip, & obviously less charging or more talk time

- FAT & heavy.

Reminds me of a movie title: Forget what is behind think ahead

Not for me, I think it really detracts from the looks of the Pearl. Reminds me of the Motorola Startac, I think it was, I had 10 or so years back. The phone, at that time, looked great until you turned it around and it had the lump that looked out of place for the battery.

I LOVE the Pearls miniscule frame and how you can hardly even feel it if your have it in a shirt pocket. Sometimes I forget its even on me. Some cells feel like a brick in your shirt pocket.

There are car chargers, USB chargers and travel chargers. I could buy all three combined off Ebay for about half the cost of an extra battery. There is rarely, if ever, a time I am not near a PC, car or outlet for days at a time where I couldnt use one of them. Plus the Pearl charges so quick.

I ordered mine already, just waiting for it to arrive. This will be a great addition to my pearl, since I text/email mostly throughout the entire work day. Now I don't have to place it on the charger in the middle of the day.

That thing is huge. While I can appreciate the desire for increased performance from the battery, there is no chance I would increase the thickness that much and put the big bubble on the back. My initial draw to the Pearl was how compact it is - that totally defeats the purpose. I use about 5000 minutes a month, and probably do 25 - 40 emails per day, and my battery is almost always falf full or better when I get home. I guess if you were in a situation where you did not go home to somewhere with a power outlet every night this would be great. However, if you have no power at home, you should be putting your money in places other than blackberries and expensive batteries.

Charging the phone every night is no bother to me. I will preserve the compact size and good looks. Great review though!
