Default unlocked my T-Mobile Pearl now I have some questions

Please Login to Remove!

hey everyone, so I unlocked my Blackberry Pearl so I can use it on my Cingular account, I downloaded the latest Cingular Firmware to my phone, now here's the thing, on the phone, the icon of the browser is the T-Mobile logo...why is that?

second, when I try to access mobile.blackberry.com I get the message that the page is only for Blackberry Browsers? why does it say that, I am on a Blackberry browser...

Thanks

Ensure your browser emulation mode is set to blackberry. Also, re-register your handset Options-Advanced Options - Host routing table - BB button - Register Now

Do you have a Blackberry Data Plan on your Cingular account? The TMobile logo is just for TZones, not full internet.

If you have a Blackberry Data Plan then go to >Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table >click menu and select Register Now and see if the browsers appear. If no browsers appear and you do have a BB data plan, then you'll probably need to give Cingular a call to make sure your account is setup.

Without a BlackBerry Data Plan you can not use ANY data - nothing. It is different than every other phone. Without the specific BlackBerry Data Plan you are out of luck. You can not send Service Books over the USB connection. They are pushed down from the carrier.

i think the problem is that people confuse wap with real internet and tzones/bb browser humm? the only stupid thing about the bb though is you do have to have the data plan just to get tzones!!

What does it say? The choices are GSM, gprs, GPRS, edge, EDGE?

You need to make sure that you have a "Blackberry Data Plan" with cingular. A regular cell phone data plan won't work.

If it still says "edge" you will probably need to call Cingular as something isn't provisioned properly. You can try popping the battery out, remove sim card for a few moments and then put back together and try it again. If it still doesn't work you'll need to give them a call.

I'll give them a call and see if the Blackberry data plan is in affect. I have the unlocked white Tmobile Pearl right now.

Shouldn't matter which BB you have as long as you have the BB data plan on the sim card--which it sounds like you do.

I am thinking about loading the Cingular BB Pearl OS on there. Do I need the Cingular sim in order for this to work? I ask because I have Tmobile but the phone belongs to my friend. I took it home so I can try to load the Cingular OS.

Wirelessly posted (8100 Pearl: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Yes, you can load the Cingular OS on it. I use the Cingular OS on my Pearl.

Install desktop Manager.

Download and install the OS package to your pc.

Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.

Plug in BB and run Desktop Manager. It will prompt to upgrade.

Good luck.

I'm curious how you got your unlock code from T-mo? I requested mine last week, but evidently, it disappeared from their service center. Where did you request it from?
