Default How to reomve the ABC logo

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I'm new in here and I'm trying to remove the ABC Logo on the upper right hand corner that is use to indicate the phone is in a Multi-Tap mode. The only way I know how to reomove it is to go back to standard tap mode. Please help me if you know some thing else.

it should work if you go into a message press menu and press enable sure-type

You need to do a search of the Forum because this question comes up in threads all the time. Just last week someone asked the exact same question.

Search "multi-tap" and many, many threads will pop up.

If you just accidentally went into multi-tap, while in a message box, press and hold down the <sym> key. The "ABC" will disappear.

OR:

To get it back to SureType as the default mode, if it got switched to multi-tap as the default mode:

Press trackball on the <Options> icon

press trackball on <language>

press trackball on <input language>

scroll and highlight <English(United States)>, press trackball

Press escape/return key [key to right of trackball with arrow on it]

Scroll to <save>

Press trackball to save setting.

I'm partial to "the easy way" of doing all things. Just press and hold the */sym key

Thanks. I'm not sure if you guys understand my question. I want to use Multi-Tap function but do not want to see the ABC logo. it's covering up the signal indicator. I can not see how good the signal strength. The signal strength around my area for T-Mobile is horrible.

Yes, that is the easy way, especially if the Member accidentally went into multi-tap. [Typically done when one presses the sym key to try and capitalize a letter and they forget what key they pressed to make the "ABC" appear].

But once in awhile, as happened on my phone, the Pearl inexplicably went to multi-tap as the default mode. Was most annoying.

Well, that's a fine howdy do by a new Member. You should have been more clear in your question.

I dunno, but I suspect there is no way to do that as the "ABC" graphic when in multi-tap is probably buried in the OS, deep in the inner bowels of the code.

Unfortunately, you already answered your polite and correctly stated question. It's a compromised solution due to the Pearl's small screen.

The straight answer to your question is that you can't have multi-tap enabled without the ABC being in the top right corner.

If you are using multi-tap because you don't like suretype or thinking, "hey, this suretype thing just doesn't work" then you are missing out on a great feature of the 8100/7100 series devices. Take some time to read the instructions on suretype. Once you figure it out you'll like it much better than multi-tap.
