Cool Sending a Pic on the pearl in a text?

Please Login to Remove!

I've had my 8100 blackberry now for about two months. I like it for texting and talking. I'm probably one of the few who does not use it online. Something I've noticed is I can't receive a picture in a text from anyone or send one either. I'm I correct to assume this can't be done? If so...Not too smart of a phone. Thanks for any comments.

It can be done. First off, make sue its a MMS text. But, I believe you have to set up your picture service first through your phone.

Yeah...uh...this question is why I found this message board. I'm really upset that I spent $200 for this phone plus $90 a month for service, yet BlackBerry wants me to pay an extra $20 a month to be able to send picture texts. !!??!???! I'm taking it back to the T Mobile store when I get off work tonight. Jerks.

You're not paying $20 for picture text. You pay $4.99 for any 400 messages, text, im, pictures. $9.99 for 1000 any messages and $14.99 for unlimited, but I gotta think that 1000 should be more than enough.

you are correct - but with the BB - to send an MMS/pic you need to have the Data Plan. A standard txt messaging bundle doesn't cut the deal.

For e.g. if you don't have a Data Plan, "Send as MMS" doesn't even show as an option

O I see. But technically you are paying $20/month for a lot more than just pic texting. What's the use of this phone if you don't get the data plan?

it's just a phone with address book and calendar. Oh, and you can listen to music and watch videos, but the data plan is essential with any bb.

Thanks you guys for all your help! I'm not with T-Moblie but I'll check to see if my carrier would be able to set this up. SirCharles, you are correct when you said that MMS option is not there if no data plan. Thanks again all of you !

hmm.. not sure.
I send MMS pics to my friends. & anyone who has the capability to accept pics on their phones, always receives it as a file.

How are you sending it ... what process?

Alternatively, you can send as an email attachment from you tmo.blackberry.com account

Same here, no issues. I'm with TMO too.

Agreed - you could have any other phone and send MMSs as part of your Messaging Plan, and without paying $20 for an extra data plan on top of your $15 for messaging plan.

well ... it is how it is

Exclamation

I'm not sure if this was mentioned in this thread amongst all the $4.99, $20 comments but I want to throw out a warning...

If you have "BES Minutes and Mail" plan with unlimited data and text messaging, it does NOT include MMS/picture messages. You will be charged 25 cents per MMS sent. I assumed the all inclusive BES plan included picture messaging but it does NOT. I think it's very tricky of Tmo to do this and I ended up paying $22 before I realized this.

Photos you EMAIL are included with no surcharge. All of this was verified by an overly friendly and gregarious customer service agent. He suggested I get some addition plan to cover text messages. I declined.

My advice - call Tmo and ask them to explain exactly what's included. Don't assume anything.

Hope that helps someone.

Send yourself a picture message (MMS) from your phone. That will activate the MMS capabilities and allow you to view photos.

I have T-Mobile too.
