Default Memory leaks?

Please Login to Remove!

First, let me say I'm on Cingular, with platform 2.2.0.41 and App version 4.2.0.71.

Memory is kind of tight to begin with with the apps I have loaded (mostly dictionaries).

Last night before I went to bed I had 7 Meg free. This morning I woke up to 0 free. Not many emails had come throughout the night, so I doubt it was that taking up all the space. I went through and cleared the obvious things, such as logs, emails, etc. and hard reset.

When the phone came back, it had just under 5 Meg free. I don't know where the other 2 went, and can't seem to reclaim the space. Any kind of multimedia files that I have are on the media card, not internal.

Anybody have any idea 1) Why free went to 0 overnight and 2) why I can't seem to reclaim the other 2 free Meg after reset?

Thanks in advance.

R.

how do you check the memory? I've never bothered.

Well, I think I figured out what was eating the memory so fast.

I had Handmark's Pocket Express installed, and apparently when it updates, it keeps old stuff in memory - doesn't get rid of it ever. Too bad there wasn't a way in the app to specify what to keep/toss. It was a useful app.

In any case, getting rid of that app helped tremendously.
