I just bought my pearl with data plan last week. I'm just wondering if I use the IM service(AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo) on my pearl, for all the texts I sent and received do I need to pay extra for them. (I think t-mobile charges 10 cents per text) Or the IM service is already included in my data plan.

Also, my AIM only allows 30 contacts on my pearl. Is there a way I can customize the list to decide who I want to be on my buddy list.

From first hand experience when you use any of the ims other than blackberry messenger you will get charged for messages sent as well as received. However the blackberry messenger the one that require a persons pin, uses data so if you have the un-limted data plan you will not be charged for those messages. Also yes it is 10 cents a message. My advice is to get a message plan or use blackberry messenger.

The OZ Messenger program that comes preloaded on the Pearl uses SMS text and not your data plan. So if you don't have a large SMS plan, I'd suggest not using it. There are several aftermarket IM programs that will use your data package. Look in the aftermarket section of the forum. I have been using the beta version of JiveTalk and it is working great.
