Default 2.5 - 3.5 adaptors for Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

It appears that the only ones available for the Pearl are the Seidio ones. I was curious if anyone has any of the ones with the mic. If so, how much distance can you have between the mic and your mouth. I ask because since your headphones cord is probably long, it would mean the mic wouldn't be near you. The one that comes with the Pearl has the mic where it should be, near a jacket lapel.

I could only find one good thread on this but it seems to be pretty dead...or maybe that it just isn't in the 8100 discussion thread and those don't get the volume the 8100 does.

I have the one with the mic. As an example, in an airport gate area, I can have the phone (and mic) in my lap and am still clear to the other party ( obviously not during announcements).

Do you use the one that is retractable for $35 or the plain one with mic for $15?

Whatever you do, don't go for the cheap-o's on eBay. I made that mistake recently and the thing only works sporadically and never in stereo.

Default 2.5 to 3.5 Cheap Alternative

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but since I just ordered a 1gb memory card for my pearl I was looking into headphones next. But couldn't you just get a $2 3.5 to 2.5 converter at radio shack or similar and use whatever stereo head phones you already have? As most of us use bluetooth headsets buying a $20 wired headphone with mic seems like a rip.

So just a thought. I've seen them in packs of 2 on Amazon rather cheap.

Good price or bad price, the Seidio adapters work, the others don't.

No you can't, they dont have the right number of stripes that is required for the bb headset jack. You can only get the Seidio ones at this point.

I bought a cheap one on ebay, was only mono sound.

I wrapped my headphone plug in aluminum foil and inserted in the adapter - presto $3 working adapter. It is dual mono though.

I just received the SEIDIO adapter today....and although volume seems to be good and clear, the silver button (used to make calls, hang up, etc) is "loose" and it shakes constantly if you're not sitting still. Due to the button being on the 'mic' portion of the adapter, it makes for a very annoying 'click click click' sound on the other party's end.

RadioShack is suppose to be getting a stereo adapter for the Pearl sometime this month. It will have either 3 or 4 rings on the plug.

Seems like you got a faulty adapter. I would call seidio and have them send you a new one.

I got the standard Seidio one and it works great. The 8100 actually does a good job as a MP3 player. I used a pair of Ety ER6 and it sounded great. As soon as the Shure 530's come out I will pick up a pair of those to use as well.
