Question Cingular 4.2.0.71 - auto-update issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Just upgraded again (another storey) to Cingulars 4.2.0.71, I am on Rogers, and I noticed a few issues:

1. I use the Today Theme Plus, and I noticed when the day changes, the calendar section will only show the month and day, not the time of my current days appt's. If I change/add an appt or remove the battery, it resets itself then adds the times again.

2. BBWeather and piconews do not seem to be autoupdating. I can force them both to update manually, but they both are just on the old screen each time I open the application. For example now when entering BBWeather app, it always connects and downloads the weather. It did not do this on Rogers .51, it always instantly had the latest weather showing.

Anyway, has anyone else noticed these differences?
And if your using Rogers .69, do you have these problems?

Thanks,
Allan

Thanks for the reply. I will have to monitor over the next few days, maybe I have a configuration error that I cannot immediatley find the solution for.

Do you use any of the Today themes that list the appts on the main screen. Do you notice if they roll over to the next day properly?

Thanks,
Allan

I just did a few tests, changed the time to 11:59 and saw in the today screen my appts for the next day give the date, not the time - this is normal. Waited for it to roll over to the next day, and the appts still had the date not the time. I then changed the time again, just a few minutes later, and then the appts had the time.

It is only in the Today screen, not in the calendar application itself.

It seems a reboot, an appt change or a forced time change will make it come back, but a automatic change does nothing.

Is anyone else using cingular 4.2.0.71 AND one of the today themes that list your appts on the main home screen? Are you noticing it acting normal first thing in the morning, before making any appt changes?

Thanks,
Allan

Question

Been monitoring BBWeather and it seems it is updating now. I think it did not update after I did a battery pull, until I forced an update, then it updated automatically after that.

Still monitoring piconews.

I did notice my Pearl was using manual time entry. I switched it now to network time, and I guess I will see tomorrow morning what happens with my Today theme and calendar.

But can someone that uses a Today theme and .71 or .67 please let me know if the today screen shows the time for calendar entries first thing in the morning.

Remember a reboot, an appt change or a manual time change will make it come back, but a automatic (passed midnight) change does nothing.

Thanks,
Allan

I was able to get BBweather and Piconews auto updating again.

For the time roll over passed midnight and the inability for the today themes to show the time. That is another problem. I changed all I can think of and could not find a permanant solution.

One thing I did notice is that once it hits an appointment and finishes the appointment, it then starts to show the times.

So I set an appointment for 12:02, duration 1 minute. And now at 12:04 it shows the times for the current day.

But this is a work around. Obviously there is a problem with the latest update, that causes this.

Can someone who is on singular, please notify RIM that this is happening, as I am on Rogers, I do not think I am allowed.

Thanks,
Allan

I doubt contacting blackberry support directly would help much, I sent them an email about the auto dimming feature losing its ability to be disabled on the new OS's.
