Default Time Synchronization

I have had the Pearl, my first BlackBerry device, for a couple of weeks. I am very impressed with the exception of one thing.

I have noticed that even with time set to "Network" the device seems to lose or gain time. I am using the 4.2.0.71 (88) software from Cingular. My carrier is T-Mobile.

If I go in and toggle the source option and save it, the time updates. I was bored last night so I was comparing the network time of my old Sprint phone to the network time of T-Mobile and realized they are the same, however the Pearl local time was at that point about one minute behind.

I was 10 minutes early to a meeting at work the other day. I guess at least I was early and not late, but wondering if this is widespread.

I am on the Cingualr network and have never noticed that the Pearl clock was lagginf behind the network one. Just make sure you update it once in a while.

before the pearl i noticed that on 7105 you would need to "update" the time even tho it was set to network... so i guess that it doesn't do it automatically, and just went out of town last weekend and noticed that my pearl didn't automatically update either :(

I understood right away that it would not update when you change timezones because of the option to set your timezone. The Sidekick 2 and 3 do the same thing. I just don't understand why it doesn't just use the network time or at least update the internal clock on a 4 times per day schedule or something... The phone is getting the time broadcast from the network anyway, why not use it?
