At first, I thought it was telling me that the QW key was the shortcut to type in a dash. This didn't work for me. I could be doing something wrong. It would be nice to quickly insert a dash without hitting the *sym key and then clicking on the dash.

Well its not the shortcut, its when your are in the symbols menu you can use the corrosponding key on your keyboad to put that symbol in instead of using the trackball to go to it and then selecting it. Lets take the dash for example, instead of pressing the trackball while over it to put a dash in you can just press the QW key and it will put the dash in.
