Okay, so I store all my stuff in Outlook and just transfer it to my Pearl.

Since my phone is a 562 area code, I do not put the 562 in front of the local numbers in Outlook.

When it transfers over Pearl puts a + before the number and it now looks like and Pearl thinks it's an international number.

Should I just put the 562 in front of the number or 1-562-###-####? Or do I have a glitch in the phone?

I always put the area code in front of the number since I travel around and get different numbers from everyone.

You need to put you area codes in your Blackberry phone book even if you do not travel. If the area code is not in front of your numbers in your Blackberry phone book, you will not get caller ID to work.

I use Outlook 2003 with my BlackBerry and BIS.

Here is how I'm setup, you need to set yours up the same way, otherwise if you are traveling out of your area code (or roaming) the call will not go through.

In Outlook, click on contacts, new contact,
Below the Name fields, there are the fields for Phone numbers.
Each has a button, like business, home, business fax, mobile etc.

Do NOT use the blank field to enter the number, instead let's say your entering a Business number.

Click on the Business Button to the left of the blank field.

A box will come up named "Check Phone Number" use this box to enter the area code and local number only, then click OK. It will automatically format it with the proper spacing, and a number 1 in front. You do not get this same result by typing in the field directly.

Now your number will appear in the field in this format

+1 (548) 506-8544

That is the perfect setup, now it will dial and connect the call no matter where you are, especially if roaming out of your area.
