Default Help with usb

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I've searched and searched through the forums, but it seems i can't find the solution. I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

I received my Pearl today and i immediately installed the software disk. Then i went to the media manager, but it says no device connected? I have a feeling the solution is going to make me feel quite stupid.

A couple of questions...

1. Do you have a media card installed?

2. After plugging in BB, running Desktop Manager did you go to the connections menu at the top and select USB? Make sure you are not plugging into a hub. You need to plug directly in to the computer. Try different USB ports if you have them.

When you start Desktop Manager with the BB connected, does DM find the BlackBerry or does it show "Disconnected"?

It sounds like a Windows/drivers problem. Did you have the BB plugged in while installing the software? If so, unplug it and reinistall the software. Does the Blackberry show up in device manager? Look at the bottom under Universal Serial Bus controllers. There should be a line that says Blackberry Device.

I don't think it was plugged in while i was installing the software. I'll try re-installing it. There isn't a line that says "Blackberry Device"

Which COULD explain why Media Manager does not work. It can't see the BlackBerry.

First thing to do is try another USB port.

Second thing to do is to go into Options / Connection settings on DM and try to detect it.

Sometimes even just rebooting the computer will help. Try different USB ports too. If you have some on the back of the computer try one of those.

I've tried 3 different USB ports. None of them seem to work. I tried to detect it with each USB port. Again no luck.

Go back to device manager and under Universal Serial Bus controllers you should have some lines that say "USB Root Hub". Right click on each of them and go to properties. Then go to the Power Management tab. Make sure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not checked. Do this for each instance of USB Root Hub. If it still doesn't work, uninstall the Desktop Manager software and reinstall it.

I went to device manager and uncheck the things you told me to uncheck. Still no change. When i plug my phone in it shows up as "USB Mass Storage Device".

I also uninstalled and reinstalled desktop manager software and nothing there.

I believe that is the problem. I don't think 64bit is compatible with the Blackberry. 64bit has problems detecting the BB.
