Lightbulb Firmware v4.2.1.39 (Platform 2.3.0.35) on pearl ?

Please Login to Remove!

A buddy of mine has an unlocked Cingular pearl here in Toronto. In Options -> About, it shows :

BlackBerry™ 8100
Wireless Handheld (EDGE)
v4.2.1.39 (Platform 2.3.0.35)
Cryptographic Kernel v3.8.4.34
MicroEdition Configuration: CLDC-1.1
MicroEdition Profile: MIDP-2.0
MicroEdition JTWI Version: 1.0
MicroEdition Media Version: 1.1
MicroEdition PIM Version: 1.0
MicroEdition File Version: 1.0

My question is that I cant find the same firmware anywhere on net ?
v4.2.1.39 (Platform 2.3.0.35)

All I can find is :
v4.2.0.64 (Platform 2.2.0.37)

Any comments ?

Ask him where he got it. It's not a released version.

He was telling that this device was sample from BB to Cingular. So wat should I recommend to him ...
1. Keep the existing FW
2. Get back to the released version and install stuff.

I'd keep it. He should be able to load whatever he wants on it. However, if he wants to keep the newer version tell him to be very careful. If he messes it up there's no getting the OS back until that version is released.

But when he launches the App loader ... it asks him to keep the new version and doesnt go further. The other option it gives is to replace it with older version and install stuff.

Can he keep the newer version and still load the app loader ?

He needs to uninstall the older version of the OS from the PC in add/remove programs.

I have his device with me right now. I unistalled the older version, rebooted the PC and then launched the desktop manager. When I click on Application loader then it asks me that DEVICE MANAGER needs to installed. Kindly assist ?
