Hey I just (jan 15th) purchased a blackberry 8100 "pearl" from tmobile and had a 1gb micro sd card which ran great. I recently upgraded to a 2gb card and cant figure out how to upgrade my OS for tmobile to use my new 2gb card. Please help and sorry if this was posted in detail somewhere else, i looked for awhile but couldnt find anything of great help.

Here's what you need to do:

- Go to BlackBerry Upgrade and log in. You may have to hit F5 (rety) if it says it is busy. be persistent.
- Download the latest code for the 8100 from T-Mobile (it is 4.2.0.64). If you want the LATEST code, download 4.2.0.71 from Cingular.
- Execute the program you just downloaded
- Locate and Delete VENDOR.XML from you PCs C: drive
- Restart Desktop Manager and the upgrade should start.

Thank you very much. Also are there any actual differences between the newest tmobile and cingular versions? does the cingular update work the same on a tmobile phone with tmobile service? sorry for complete newbie questions, i appreciate your help.

T-Mobile's latest is 4.2.0.64; Cingular has 4.2.0.71. There are no release notes, so it is really tough to say what has changed.

All of the code is written by RIM, tested and then released by the carriers.

You can run one carrier's code on any BlackBerry....

Well I got version "v4.2.0.71 (platform 2.2.0.41) and it still fails to recognize my 2gb sandisk micro sd card. it formatted it with fat32. any advice? its not a bad card, comp reads it fine through my sd adapter

Thanks I finally got it working. Just for future reference to all you people nice enough to help newbs like me, a very important thing is to remember to format your card in the "FAT" file format system, not "FAT32" like i usually use. Thanks again for the help!
