Default Music player

Please Login to Remove!

This Pearl is driving me crazy. I love the phone but cannot play music. I bought an unlocked TM to run on Cingular (phone looks better). I ripped and loaded mp3s on my laptop. Then transferred it to my micro sd. Then installed sd in the Pearl. I can see and play the music on BB Desktop Manager, but cannot see or play it on the phone.

I rebooted, removed sd, prayed over it.... Nothing works.

HELP!

Make sure that Mass Storage Mode is OFF while the card is in the phone. To do this go to Applications ---> Options ---> Advanced Options ---> Media Card and the Mass Storage Support Mode is toggled to off.

Im not sure if this will help you but just an FYI.... you have to format the SD card with your pearl first time you use it and then it will show up.

Instead of adding your music through DM, just open your pearl in windows explorer and drag and drop the MP3 files into the music folder (Create this folder if it doesnt exist)

Almost as if the Pearl was just an external hard drive...

I am trying to set up my Pearl as a music player before I take a real long flight -- have the BB Stereo Headset and just got a 1 G SanDisk today. I put it in the Pearl without formatting or anything. The phone recognized it and I went to the one song I had on the internal memory and there was a MOVE. I moved it to the Media Card and all seems to work well. The Mass Storage Mode is ON by default and this still works. I don't know why mine is working without doing anything, but thought I would mention for others. I'm on a Cingy Pearl.

I'm going to add songs tonight but just wondered if there was anything I'm missing here. Or is there functionality that I'm oblivious to?

Mass storage mode can be on all the time and there is no problem. Its when you hook up your Pearl to your comp that you will be able to use the Pearl as a jump drive but in return you wont be able to accsee the media through the Pearl while it is connected. So if you added a new pic and wanted to make that your background you would have to unhook the Pearl from the comp and then do it. With mass storage you could leave it pluged in and still change the pic.
