It all depends how you use them. There are apps out there for these services that use data and text. I don't use them, so I don't know what the specific programs are called, but they should be pretty easy to find on this forum.

99.9% use data. I am convinced that 100% use data but there are always people out there that "can prove otherwise" due to their huge text message bills...

I have yet to see any of these bills...

If you use any of the OZ chat programs (ex. aim, msn, yahoo, icq) they come out of your text messages. But if you download the yahoo messenger directly from blackberry, it uses data, so it doesn't come out of your text messages, you can also download google talk and bb messenger from blackberry.com. The thing is that OZ is provided to you by your phone carrier thats why it uses text messages.

On my TMo Pearl, it is there. Are you sure it is not "hidden" in the apps?

Mine was. Go to your apps page and select "show all" and see if it is there. When you click on it, it will download it and install it.

I think OZ uses text messages to send "IMs," so you may want to check with your provider or search these forums to make sure.
