Default PC does not see mass storage

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all, Love my pearl - best ever phone yata yata.
I have set media card options as follows:
media card support on,
encryoption : none,
mass storage support: on,
autoenable mass storage support: yes

but my pc does not see it.... before i turned on the auto support option, I have been putting video and music on using the desktop manager without issues (except slowness!)

Any suggestions from anybody?

With mass storage on you should be able to see the card as a removable drive in My Computer. Thata how I use my card. I dont use the DM at all for card use.

When I connect my pearl to my laptop through USB it comes up with a message on my phone asking if I want to allow mass storage. Once I select yes and enter my password I can see my pearl under My Computer as a removable card..

If you use a p/w to access your device you need to enter it when you connect it via USB to your pc..

I'm using OS .64 (T-Mobile official) and linux; when I set auto storage on I also get funkiness some times - it just won't show up as a drive (verified via the system logs, no USB Mass drive is exposed to the kernel). If I try unplugging the cable and sticking it back in it'll usually work as intended and fire right up.

I have no issues if I leave it on Prompt instead, so it's gotta be something buggy in the firmware. Try just putting it back on Prompt and see what happens.

Default Solution

When the message comes up on the phone, just leave it as is...don't select anything...just do what you have to do and then when you unplug the phone from the comp, the message will go away and you'll be fine....just dont worry about that message...

Are you using your work computer? At work i ussually have to go into disk management and change the drive letter assigned to it since the one it tries take is ussually assigned to one of my network drive mapping. I started having this problem after i got a multi card reader since each slot takes up a drive letter and i have anywhere inbetween 10 and 15 drive mappings at a time.

I am having this problem in reverse.
My Pearl is not seeing the files on the media card.
Any one know a way to resolve this?

Were you able to see the files before?

If so, hopefully, you have a backup of those files on your PC.

Format the card in the phone. I know some cards say no formatting necessary, but it really is best to format the card in the phone itself.

Ok, I will give that a try.
How can I format the card while in the phone?
It is wierd I am able to view if I select explore but not if I just select media card.

Options -> Advanced -> Memory Card, [menu] -> Format card

It's not too weird -- the Pearl formats the card and places a blackberry folder at the top, then 'pictures' and 'videos' under that. When you choose Explore it just shows you the root folder. When you try and use an icon, though, it tries to go right into /SDcard//blackberry/pictures/ e.g. -- since you haven't formatted, you don't have the special directory structure.
