i call fake.

the only other colors i would like to see a pearl in would be...

graphite (gray)

carbon fiber (real, not fake), i know a premium would have to be paid, but it would be worth it.

metallic silver

This is the article that goes with that pic. Don't know whether it's true or not, just posting it to go with the pic above. I would be willing to bet that if they produce it, it will sell. My wife and oldest daughter walked by while I had the pic up and they both LOVE it!

I saw the pic, read the article, and as a girly-girl I love my pink trackball on my white pearl because it's just a little special... the phone itself still looks sleek and professional. I still don't think I could bring myself to buy a pink phone!

As far as the picture goes it looks totally fake, and whoever made it is colorblind because that's not red, it's pink.

That picture is a total fake, reasons:
1] The rim around the pearl is also colored - it cannot be - it is a metallic part and RIM never colors the metallic parts as they will wear away sooner.

2] What even be the color - the phone answer call and disconnect will be green and red respectively but here it proves people have morphed the white pearl image with an pink overlay.

Mind you all, I never complained the news is fake - because it has originally reported by Boy Genius - it should be true, but the pic is fake. Blackberry never gives their fans a poor quality/look device. We will have to wait for a true picture to see the Red pearl.

I wish RIM would make interchangeable parts that could be easily changed. This was people could have whatever color they wanted, and the some. Just imagine a "rainbow pearl".

As suggested by canonbomb1987, if the case is changeable - that would be really great.

The red Pearl would look like the one in these links that I found on RIMarkable and BlackBerryCool.

Folks, if you read the actual post that originated on the Boy Genius Report, you'd know that the image you're all going on and on about is an artist rendering that BG put together himself. I thought I could put together a better representation, and that's the image you're now finding on both BBCool and RIMarkable (and I believe BG has it on his site, as well). So don't get all up in arms, we're just trying to get an idea of what's coming up.

That looks JUST like a pic on the Best Skins Ever site that they use to show what their skin covers. They highlight the areas in red that their skins cover so you can see since the skin is clear and you wouldn't be able to tell with a normal pic (one without the red highlighting).

Here is a link to their site so you can see what I'm talking about: Best Skins Ever RIM BlackBerry 8100 Pearl Total Body Skin

BTW, I have their total body skin and it is probably the best skin for the phone, amazing fit and protection!!

I really don't think they look all that similar, David.
