You need to format the card on the Pearl. Options - Advanced options - Media card - Hit Menu button and format.

I thought you were able to see the memory card only through windows explorer, when you enter in mass storage mode. if format you would see through the deskto manager?

As far as I know you CANNOT see the MicroSD chip through DM once you have set up the card to work on the the Pearl, etc.

Besides you do NOT want to transfer files via DM as it is painfully slow.

When I plug in the Pearl, Windows opens up the folders through XP. I then transfer files directly from the PC to the Pearl's 1GB chip. I do NOT ever have to open DM to simply put files on to the chip.

It works both ways for me. I can transfer via desktop manager or mass storage mode. I prefer to drag and drop also.

Yes, you can see the SD through DM, but you're right - transferring that way is REALLY slow.

Better to just make sure Mass Storage Mode is on and transfer as you would any other folder withing Windows.

I thought if one sets up mass storage mode, etc., on the Pearl, that this loses the ability to see the chip in DM. In every Pearl I have set up [four by now] when "turning on" all the settings, on the Pearl, I could no longer see the chip in DM.

I am using the original T-Mo .42 OS and the original DM. Maybe things changed with the newer versions?

I'm not sure if the OS upgrades fixed that but as for the mass storage mode and the dm......one or the other. They can't run at the same time in my experience. I do have the option of both though.
