Tom,
Welcome to the forums. Unfortunatly, this can't be done right now. Level 1 messages will show in red on your Pearl. You can go to your BIS website and set the filters to send mail as level 1 and then you can have red messages. However, there aren't any other colors/options for this. If you have BES there are some email background options you can set under Options >Security Options >General Settings.

@ Tom8100:

Until such an option becomes available (I'd like it too ) you can use an alternate method of viewing messages that maybe will help you out in some circumstances. When you go into the main menu you *should* see a seperate menu entry for each email account -- by clicking each one of those you'll only see those items.

I know, it doesn't help with the SMS since they're lumped in "Messages", but it's maybe at least a little something to help you along with the standard email accounts.

You could also set up searches done with hotkeys. Like how if you press Alt-M you get just MMS. Now this wouldn't label the messages but you could set a search to be Alt-G and that would only show emails sent to your Gmail address. This way you could get rid of the SMS and MMS messages out of the folders while you are browsing...
