Great I get to go into work tomorrow followup on 10 Trouble Tickets that I needed to resume from my colleagues for DST failures or Timezone issues, and Lack of DST installs due to CINGULAR NOT SHIPPING 7290's with the BlackBerry Browser?!!?!?!?!?!! Fracking WHY?!

Worst off I'm not getting paid because our senior psycho manager decided to limit us from OT. I understand his reason's just that I must do these followups to limit the impact on our 2 BES Admins the TRUE admins (I'm just a junior weeding through without formal training by I do have my level 1 TS certs - desktop & device) .

But I take pride at least I'll learn incredibly more than what I've learned today - which was quite alot! And know that I'll be helping out my colleagues & also those admins that so helpfully help out our team.

> So my predicament is nothing compared to theirs as their working 24hrs straight tomorrow because of the expected issue of the DST. Im sure their covered but Damn Cingular for removing the BB browser. I must reinstall the firmware, THEN I can get the patch installed.

Daylight Saving Time 2007
The standard dates for North American Daylight Saving Time (DST) change in March 2007. Previously, DST began on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October. As of March 2007, DST begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

Impact of DST 2007 Changes on BlackBerry users
When the DST dates change in March 2007, BlackBerry® devices will not update their clocks for the affected time zones if no patches for impacted BlackBerry software and third party software are applied. As a result, your BlackBerry device might not display correct time zone information for certain time periods during the year.

And this means HUGE productivity downtime, not to mention business related costs, and considerable professional embarrasement & humiliation & possibly being shunned by profesional peers because of 1hr late arrivals of meetings/appointments, clerical documentation to be submitted.

Contact your Congressman and ask why they made this change.
Get back to us.

Thank you.

Now, everyone get back to patching and updating CDO.DLL and waiting for the world to end at 1:59:59 tomorrow morning.

Because there is no 2AM.

And if you don't update your BB, time zones for the rest of the country and Mexico will be screwed up.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if they'd just take those rocks back to the moon, everything would be ok...

downloaded the patch

But now under "options", at the top, it says: 2007 DST Patch

What's up with that?

I also found it under applications where it seems to me it belongs. I can't understand why the patch text under options.

That's where it's supposed to show - under Options. If you click on it, you should see '2007 DST Patch Applied'.....assuming it installed correctly.

The time zones change tonight. For 20 years, the time zone changes (Standard Time to Daylight Savings Tim) changed on the first Sunday in April. This year they start tonight. 3 weeks earlier. And they end two weeks later. So, without this patch, your BB will not "sprint forward" tonight, and would do so instead on 1 April.

Go here - BlackBerry to learn more.

Your BB will be fine; but the time may be off and meeting requests may be mixed up.

oh ok...perfect i downloaded and installed it....it still blows my mind how ppl actually find out about these things...like some ppl would just buy the phone and use it for w.e..and not even bother going to blackberry.com or any forum just to find out things like this. So when there phone is messed up and the "time doesnt change" they would just go to their provider and complain.

Hmm, mine is patched and it's showing 2:11AM EST. My computer changed though; I assume it was supposed to change automatically.

Oops, this should be in the 8800 area, hopefully one of the mods will move it to where it belongs. Thanks.
