| Word, Excel, PDF and PP? Can I save and receive them?? Please Login to Remove! I was under the impression that I could view Microsoft Office documents with the Pearl. For example, someone sends me a word document. When I try to open, I get a failed coversion message. Do I need to buy third party software or do they not work at all? Also, I need to save some items that are in excel format on the Pearl. Is this possible??

| In theory, you should be able to view them. I haven't run into any problems with this. Maybe the docs you're getting have a version or format that is tripping your device up, or maybe the Attachement Service needs to be reinstalled.
Only one option I know of for creating/editing office docs and that is with eOffice from Dynoplex. | | Offline

| I have no problems with Word/Excel but I cannot open many PDF docs. I use the stock attachment viewer.

| Gibson, you may need to make sure your Blackberry Attachment Service is loaded, and if not, open Desktop Manager with your phone connected and add that app via application loader. | | Offline

| This is my #1 complaint about the Pearl. It should have a decent attachment viewer (word, excel, .pdf, etc), but it doesn't. The one supplied is crap.
I tried eOffice by Dynoplex, but it is ridiculously expensive and I didn't like it anyway. You can load eFile (Dynoplex) for free, but again, I didn't like it. The best I found is Repligo, but it is a subscription service that costs $79 for a year (still cheaper than eOffice). It's actually a great program and the word, excel and pdf documents render very nicely. They host your documents on their server (so I suspect some companies may have security issues with this). You can try it out for a week to see if you like it.
Nevertheless, RIM really needs to get on the ball and offer a decent attachment viewer. After all, they're supposed to be a business-oriented device, so proper word, excel and pdf support should be a no-brainer. | | Offline

| The attachment loader is installed. Tried the Efile and I am not too fond of it. I will try something else.

| If anyone knows any other options please let me know. I cannot open any attachments either. I don't even have the option to open them. I have the software to open them and I have re-installed it twice. The [attachment] shows but I can't click on it and when I got to the menu the open option is not there. I spoke with T-mobile for about a week and they couldn't figure it out. We only have a part time IT guy and he wasn't able to help much. I have an Exchange server and my emails are forwarded to my phone. Please help if you can.... | | Offline

Thanks | To my knowledge, it is not possible to save Excel, Word or pdf files on the Pearl unless you buy 3rd party software like eFile or Repligo. You can save the email that they were sent from and open it that way, but the attachment will only be available as long as the email is on your phone and it is saved on your server. To my knowledge, there is no way to transfer files using the desktop manager to the phone memory or a memory card and still open them using the OEM viewer (even if you were to get it to work).
This drove me crazy for weeks. I finally bit the bullet and bought Repligo for a year because I have to be able to save and open attachments. Luckily, I can expense the cost to my company. | | Offline

| I don't really want to save the files I just want to be able to open them, from within the email. We have other employees at a different location that opens all his attachments just fine. So I was wondering if there is a setting on Outlook or the Exchange server or even on the phone that I have overlooked. When the server forwards the email to my phone is it making the attachments unavailable somehow.... I don't know it is so frustrating and I'm tired of being on the phone with T-mobile for hours and hours with a person who knows about as much as I do and that's not saying much..... | | Offline

| eOffice version 4 is out and it does support SD card now. It also includes imporved attachment handling and a new document viewer ViewAll. Upgrades are free for registered users. We also do not charge subscription any more, everything is a one time fee.

| Guys,
A customer needs to choose rather than spend 200 $.
200 $ is for the most powerful bundle of applications by DynoPlex. You may choose others per his specific needs. For example, eOffice Standard which has attachment service as well is 149,95 $; eOffice Basic - 119,95 $, MasterDoc - 79,95 $.
