Question HELP !! Unlocking services cannot find my pearl IMEI

Please Login to Remove!

I purchased a Cingular BB pearl from a cingular customer. I need to get the handset unlocked since I intend using it outside the USA.

I've contacted gsmphonesource.com and another person on ebay and both of them have replied that the IMEI cannot be found in their database.
The person I purchased it from cannot get me the unlock code from Cingular since he got another phone unlocked from them recently.

Do I have any other options to unlock my phone? It's in very good shape but practically useless if I cannot unlock it.

Help please !!!

Pearl is still not on list of companies providing unlock service. Many have asked this question you will find this answer if you use search.

If someone who has successfully unlocked it with one of the services, they might be able to help.

mlr7, you won't have much luck if you don't have the correct IMEI #, that is required and that's that. Confirm your IMEI# in two places:

Options > Status.

Also look on the sticker under the battery of your phone.

Be absolutely correct they are the same...

If it is from a launch party, it can not be unlocked... Lots of reports on that..

Wirelessly posted (8700g: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Are you positive its from a store if you purchased it from a "cingular customer". I think I would be talking to the seller.

Yes, I did speak to the seller too. He confirmed that it's from a cingular store.
Is it ever possible that the IMEIs and the corresponding unlock codes are not entered into the databases immediately and there's a time delay?

Can you refer me to any other 'good' unlocking service/individual ??

My best advice, get your money back and go buy one new, or a previously unlocked device.

There are other unlocking services that are sponsors on this board who I have been told are credible, but I have never used.

I wish you the best of luck, but sometimes you just need to cut your losses and head in another direction.

I too bought a Pearl 8100 from a third party.

It was locked to UK Vodafone.

I tried 2 internet unlocking services who were unable to help me because the IMEI number was not on their database. I also went to a shop-based unlocking service who couldn't help for the same reason: They said "come back in 12 months"!

Eventually, I contacted Vodafone UK by email and they provided me with an unlock code virtually by return and free of charge.

My Pearl is now unlocked and working a treat! The only (small) problem is that I still have the Vodafone software and hardware branding - but I'll live with that!

This is probably not much help to you if you are in the USA but it does show that it can be done. Just persevere.
