Default BES and Personal Email setup.

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

Is there a way to have a separate icon/inbox for my BES emails that come in? I know for my personal gmail account, there is a separate icon with my email address to the right of it. But is that possible with a BES account?

Thanks.

With BES you will still have a separate icon for each of your personal email accounts, but your main BES icon/inbox (Messages icon) is a catch all - it will show emails from EVERY email account configured on your device. There is no separate icon/inbox ONLY for your BES or Desktop messages.

The short answer is no, you can't have a separate icon for BES email. You can, however, create a shortut to display only BES email.

Go into Messages, Click the wheel and select Search. Scroll down to Service and set it to Desktop. Click the wheel and select Save. Give the search a name (like BES) and then go to the Shortcut Key and type the letter you want to assign to the search (like B). Click the wheel and select Save.

Now, when you're in Messages, simply hit [Alt]B and only your BES email will be displayed.

Yea, it's lame, but it works!

Exclamation

Hey, is there a way to remove the "personal email setup" icon & restore the "enterprise activation" icon on a new (non-activated) device?? I have a user's 8700c that after I've wiped & reloaded the software, and after the wireless is turned back on, the enterprise icon goes away and is replaced by the personal email setup. Dead give away to me that his account is setup wrong... but how can i make the switch without having to sit on this ticket any longer??

While there's probably a way to disable personal email through IT Policy, that's a pretty severe option. I'll bet there's a way to prevent a BlackBerry from accessing OWA, but you'd probably have to pay BlackBerry - or Microsoft - or BOTH - to find out how!

As for the Enterprise Activation icon not being present, it's typically available under the Advanced Options.

Short of distributing BlackBerries and loading them with "custom images", you don't have many other options.

I know... I went into Advanced Options a while ago, but it wasn't there, hence I thought I'd ask someone. I'm closing the ticket and chalkin' it up as the user needs to take care of the switch (thankfully it's not in our contract to do this for them!!)

Thanks guys!

Sounds like the sim card is set up for BIS instead of BES. If its not set for bes the enterprise activation option will vanish as soon as wireless is turned on. If that is the case, you will need to talk to the carrier.

sorry to Hijack this thread,

is there a way I can actually get the "setup personal email icon" i can only seem to have my work email via the BES on my blackberry.
i am also the admin for the bes and have changed all the polices to allow other email services but I cannot seem to find any option on the handset.

currently i forward all my personal mail to my work account but I would rather just have two seperate accounts on my blackberry so I can reply from my personal address.

do you think its something the service provider has disabled?

thanks

Once a search is saved, can it be editted or deleted? I saved a search on alt+z, but after some consideration I would like to replace or edit the search assigned to that shortcut.
