Default AIM Application

I am a Cingular user and I have the Blackberry 8100 "Pearl". I tried downloading the ramble software and that didnt work, then I tried a different one and when I installed it on my desktop it said make sure the phone is connected to the computer. So I noticed it was stuck on "installing to phone" or something like that so I let it run the whole night and in the morning it was still like that so I unplugged it.

I have no idea what im doing, any help at all with as much detail would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what the other software you're trying is but I've been using Jivetalk for a few months now on the Cingular network and it works great.

Looking for beta testers for new multi-client IM application

If you try that link then you should be able to find some good info on Jivetalk and I would recommend giving it a try.
