I think the benefits of this new version outweigh the bugs IMO.

There is a nice snappy speed increase pretty much all around. On occasion
it will slow down but not near as much as the old versions.

The ability to totally separate sms/mms and email icons WITH separate count indicators at the top. Sweeettt!!!!!!!!!!

Backlight on/off like so many have wanted since it was removed in a prior release.

The browser enhancements are also nice. Its much faster than before, has helpful views like desktop and page overview, ability to adjust the image quality from High/medium/low to speed up browsing, enhanced emulation modes so you can access more websites (for example.. now MySpace you can log on, read emails/blogs, view pics and everything else but upload pics) and a few other things. If your having a problem with a website just try another emulation mode. I found, so far??, the MS IE mode works best.

The new media player has both good and bad. The good is its much faster now and the image quality, detail, sharpness and colors are now better IMO. You can also choose to turn off the external speaker and have it play thur the handset one.

The bad is it still slows to a crawl now and then like prior versions and playing video is hit or miss. Some seem to pause the video and continue the sound at about the 8-10 second mark. I have 15 videos on my card and have been able to make all of them play 100% thru. You just need to move the highlight to the ff/rr bar and click a couple times to get it started when it stops. I just leave the highlight there so I can just click if it pauses. Sure it should be fixed but no big deal really. Start a video, move the highlight to the ff/rr bar and just click if something pauses.

There is a sending/receiving MMS quirk. It works fine unless your running an IM program. Then you cant send MMS at all and only receive an MMS header and text no picture. The MMS you tried to send are still there and saved so you can just resend later and you do receive incoming MMS notification headers and all the text so you dont lose anything. Again to me no big deal. Just log off your IM program once in a while and send/receive all.

I am still testing it but thats about the best and worst I have found so far???

I would disagree and have hardly seen any issues you mentioned. See my above post for exact details.

To clarify one more thing...These things do not have a memory leak. A memory leak is when you open a browser window and it either crashes or it says out of memory. You guys are talking more about a storage leak.
The above paragraph makes me question your other list of issues. You really don't know what a "memory leak" is.

Like OMG...I totally made that up.

Let me ask you a very simple question. You pull the battery out...your messages are still there right? You sir have no idea what MEMORY is.

Don't waste your time with e-arguments. You have no problems with it well good for you. Keep using it. Fact is the original tmobile usa 64 is more stable.

Besides reporting your post as harassing to the mods, I'm going to defend YMark here as he shouldn't reply to such flamebait (and I hope the mods delete this post too). Your previous statement does in fact indicate you don't really know much about how memory is used within a programming construct and a BB device, you're using your experience with a Nokia S60 handset to try and make a point about a BlackBerry device, which is out in left field.

Feel free to PM *me* and take *me* on with a memory discussion (I notice you didn't refute my post, eh?), I'll run circles around you. *throws down gauntlet*

Install Desktop Manager
Download and install the OS package to your PC
Delete the Vendor.xml file
Plug in BB & Open Desktop Manager.
DM will recongnize an update is available.

Default Download problems - 03-20-2007, 10:29 PM

Hi everyone.

It is very nice to see everyone enjoying the new update.

I was trying to download the file from BlacBerry, however I am experiencing constant problems with the download.

The download speed won't go above 10KBps, eventhough I have a 1Mb connection. After some time I get an error, the file won't finish downloading.

Would it be possible for anyone to put the file on some kind of server or something like that so that I can download it?

P.S. Can the problem be connected with the fact that I am located in the UK?

I have already tried IE and Opera.

Did a search on this thread and no one seems to have asked the question: will I need to re-do Enterprise Activation (am on BES through Exchange My Mail) if I apply this update?

Depending on what service packs you have on your BES but i did the update and as soon as the final reboot after the firmware update it automatic started the Enterprise activation.

Default Splitting e-mail from text messages - 03-21-2007, 08:16 AM

I have installed the new OS and I'm pleased with the ability to turn off the autodim.

But other than the Vodafone Today theme which always separated e-mail from SMS, I cant find any other themes that do it automatically or an option to make it happen. I replaced the Blackberry alx file with jibi's edited version(thanks jibi!) so I have access to all the themes.

Help gratefully received.

Thanks

Daniel

When in your Inbox select Options --> General Options --> SMS and Email Inboxes --> Separate. It will add a second inbox icon called SMS and MMS.

You also have the option to keep it all in one message list or to have your theme control this option.

I found a problem with Google Maps today that I think is related to the MMS issue.

Please someone else verify this.

I have been using the update for a week. The only thing I do not like is my battery life has been cut in about half. With my Seidio extended battery I used to be able to get 4 days using the cingular .71. Now I can get about 2 days out of it.

  4. The bug where if you delete multiple emails using shift/highlight the cursor doesn't stay in the right place has now been fixed.
  5. GPS menu item in Options--never has anything in it, even with BT GPS puck active.
  6. Under Enterprise Activation in Options it now lists the status with date activated.
  7. Network is now Mobile Network.
  8. Included DST patch appears to have fixed my shared calendar items that were 1 hour off-was waiting for a DST push from BES.
  9. Some videos that used to play, no longer play.
  10. Cingular theme is now AT&T theme.
  11. No option for shooting videos.

  15. BBMaps 1.1.25
  16. Under Mobile Network when manual is selected it automatically starts a search for networks.
  17. Default theme has second level icon Application List rather than a menu Application List
Props to John Clark for noting most the items in this list.
Is this the .73 version or .66

I changed the Zen theme back to the way it worked before the upgrade using Krad's instructions posted on his web site. The instructions are great.

However, now when I the "icon list" pops up, I get a screen flutter. Has anyone else experienced this? BTW, is there a way to go back to the NEW Zen theme?

Thx

I'm having an issue with the new daylight savings time. I'm on Rogers in Canada, and even though this new OS has the DST patch, my time as well as my appointments are 1 hour off. I've even installed the patch as well, but still 1 hour behind.

I look in the Date / Time settings and I'm set to Network time, and I'm still 1 hour behind the network.

Anyone else experiencing this?

EDIT: I have tried hard / soft reseting.
